Description

This is a contemporary symbolist painting that is based on Jewish, and Georgian cultural traditions. The pomegranate is grown in Caucasus, and Mediterranean regions for several thousand years. It is an ancient, and remarkable symbol in both traditions that is mentioned in the Bible several times. Some Jewish philosophers, and Talmudists believe that the pomegranate was the forbidden fruit of the Garden of Eden. In Georgian cultural tradition, the pomegranate is a symbol of hospitality, love, and boundless respect for guests. In the painting you can see a couple freeing birds from a cage. Pomegranates, and tree trunk are very bright, and partially transparent. Under the sunlight or normal room illumination, a beautiful reflection attracts an attention creating a unique visual effect.
